The remake is taking the whole lore of the series into account, including Dead Space 3. Never fail to get creeped out by the marker in DS1, and the trumpet noise in DS2 to signal convergence is chefs kiss epic horrific, almost biblical in the worst way. The first games encounter with the Marker was always so intimidating, this thing has a darkness to it, this idol of death but somehow I feel like it's alive in a wrong way. Idk ,it's an idea I've been grappling with. It can also explain the energy being the life force of the quadrillions of races this super predator has killed and it uses that as a lure in the darkness of space. The worlds it feasts on just become desolate rocks. The idea more of the markers themselves being a single sentience that just ends life, turns it into a substance and then absorbs that into 1 marker itself for convergence is alot scarier IMO. It was cool and made sense but it wasn't frightening at all, just my feeling. I hope if they make it to a remake of 3 they drop the Brethren moon thing.
